Wer kennt nicht den Nummer eins Hit "First Time" aus der Werbung aus dem Jahre 1988? In diesem Jahr, oder genauer am 11. Februar 2011, veröffentlichte ROBIN BECK ihre neue CD " The Great Escape". Robin gab Melodic-Rock-Inside.com die Möglichkeit, ihr einige Fragen zu stellen.
Hello Michael… Nice to meet you :-)
1. Could you tell us please what are you currently up to?
Robin: At the moment I am full steam ahead and into promotion for the new CD "The Great Escape".
I have a great promotion up at my website www.robinbeckrocks.com which will end March 30th.
It's a music lottery and has loads of goody's including a chance to meet with me when I'm in your area.
I'm also managing a band "Kane'd", a female fronted band from Wales. I am also working along side rock singer Fiona for her come back album.
This is a very exciting time for them and for me.
Getting ready to do a little promotion in Europe come April starting with a show called Willkommen bei Carmen Nebel - ZDF.de on April 2nd.
So get into the lottery especially if you live close enough to come to Austria and collect on it.
2. Your great new Album "The Great Escape" was released at 11th February. Could you take us through the songs and some of the ideas/stories behind the songs please...
Robin: Sure, here goes:
After a while the good stuff starts to come out. We took our time making this new CD and the results of our efforts are blazing hot!
Working with James Chirstian (Producer) and Tommy Denander (Co-Producer) prove to be the winning formula for me.
I felt free to be creative and daring, to enjoy the music that we were writing and dare to dream bigger dreams.
10 original compositions written by- Beck/Denander/Christian, and a really surprising cut written for me titled, "Baby I'm Not A Bitch" by the Elements, a writing force from the UK.
Track 1. "The One" Beck/Denander/Christian
Telling your secret love that he's the one,can be the hardest thing you'll ever commit to as it unravels all your most vulnerable feelings.
I found this song to be really revealing for me.
Track 2. "Got Me Feelin' Sexy" Beck/Denander/Christian
Burning desire for the hot and heavy youthful and wicked attraction. This is your top down, hair in the wind, devilish wink song.
Sinfully honest and upfront.
Track 3. "Inside Of Me" Beck/Denander/Christian
This song is one of my favorites. It provokes all my feeling about how precious life is and how the best choice is, to choose life.
At the same time it presses the issue of being responsible for your actions, single woman listen up.
Track 4. "That All Depends" Denander/Beck/Christian
Duet with Joe Lynn Turner of Rainbow and Deep Purple
This will be one of your favorites! No one serves it up better than Joe Lynn Turner and the song was just made for the two of us, literally...
This song is talking about taking the bull by the horns and showing you girls how to keep him in line and get your
man at the same time... Love is thicker than disorder!
Track 5. "Baby I'm Not A Bitch"
What a song... written by The Elements. This song tells it like it is. We are all just trying to get our point across.
Relationships are hard, but they don't have to be impossible... just tell him, I hate you cause I love you, and it's just how we are.
Track 6. "Everything Is Alright" Beck/Denander/Christian
Did you ever feel like your partner wasn't listening and you just wanted to give to em'?
Well here's your new Anthem-Don't tell me when to laugh, don't tell me not to cry, and don't tell me everything is alright!
Get it off your chest kinda song that rocks from beginning to end.
Track 7. "The Great Escape" Beck/Denander/Christian
A song about love that goes unappreciated, but by the end we can all appreciate why someone would not stay if they didn't feel loved.
Track 8. "Don't Think He's Ever Comin' Home" Beck/Denander/Christian
I almost didn't make it through singing the lyric of this song... it's so emotional and broken hearted.
How does one survive losing the love of their life when they never saw it coming?
How do keep believing when there's nothing there? Drag out the hanky cause you're gonna need it.
Track 9. "Cross My Heart" Beck/Denander/Christian
Tiger Woods tribute- This song is for all the jilted woman. Cheater and liars beware.... This song will show no mercy!
"Cross my heart and hope you die"-
Track 10. "All The Rivers" Beck/Denander/Christian/Kent
This song is a poetic verse on trying to survive the ups and downs and ins and outs of life in general.
Make it your own... everyone has a story to tell but you gotta pick yourself up by your bootstraps and make it back to what you believe in.
Turn inward to find the answers.
Track 11. "Till The End Of Time" Denander/Jidhed/Bjorn Lindbom
Another fantastic duet between James Christian and me... what can I say... the song was made for us... a true lament of how
we really do feel and to close this album that was made with so much love and so much commitment that the song just sang itself!
3. How has the reaction been so far, from reviewers and fans to the new album?
Robin: The reviews have been top rate. Seems everyone is touting this album as the best work in my career. The sister album to "Trouble Or Nothing"!
4. Where do you get your song writing ideas from and who musically is an influence on you?
Robin: The songs just come to me out of my life's experiences and inspiration straight off the music. Tommy Denander and James Christian are a main source of inspiration.
5. Your husband James Christian (HOUSE OF LORDS) and Tommy Denander were involved by your album “The Great Escape”. How easy was to work on the album with them?
Robin: It's wonderful to work with them. It's easy going and we all have the same goal in mind so there is never any conflict at all. We work off of each other which give everyone a chance to be creative and engaged at all times.
6. What were the highlights in your long career? Looking back if you could change anything what would it be and why?
Robin: Platinum selling albums and working with great artists and producers is the main highlight although awards are not what makes me tick. There were many highlights but looking back I do wish that I had established a solid touring band. I do miss this and regret not touring all along the way.
7. Are there any plans for live dates in Germany and how easy/hard is it to get a decent run of tour dates?
Robin: I live to perform and to write and to record. It is difficult to get a good tour up and running but I'm always trying to.
I know that there are many who would love for me to get out there and tour and I want that too... so I will continue on that quest for the right moment in time.
The cost and the promotion from the U.S. to Germany is great. All sponsors are welcome as this is what it takes to do a great tour going.
8. What do you like doing with your spare time outside of music?
Robin: I like hanging with my family and relaxing. I love to work out and go boating. I enjoy intimate get togethers with close friends.
I love to garden but it's not alway so easy with the extreme weather we have here in Florida.
9. What really gets on your nerves and really annoys you at the moment?
Robin: Not too much really! I'm basically a happy go lucky person, but if I had to name just one thing it would be Greed and there is plenty of that to go
around in this world. Greed makes me sick.
10. Message to your fans...
Robin: I could not do this without you, so I do it for you. I love that you support me and come to tell me your thoughts either at my Facebook and my website www.robinbeckrocks.com You all mean the world to me and I am always grateful when I learn that my music means so much to you.
Thank you Robin and I hope we will see us at tour in the future. I wish you much success with your album "The Great Escape".
Thank you too Michael :-)
