Interview: STAN BUSH

Nachdem gestern das Review, für das am 27.08.2010 erscheinende neue Album "Dream the Dream" vom Emmy-Preisträger STAN BUSH, online gesetzt wurde, ist hier nun das Interview mit Mr. STAN BUSH.

Hi Stan, I am Michael and welcome to Melodic-Rock-Inside.com.
Thank you for having time for the interview. I have some question for you.

1.    What are you currently up to?

I’m getting ready for the new album release.  I’ve been doing interviews and promotion.

2. End August your new album will be released.  Could you take us through your great new album “Dream the Dream”   please?

Thanks for your kind words.  I’m very happy with the new album.  The title song “Dream the Dream has a positive message about believing in yourself.  There are other songs with a similar ‘go for it’ message, some love songs, and a couple of songs that talk about a search for meaning in life.  I think we all want to do something important or at least make a difference.  For me putting out a positive message is the best thing I can do.

3.  Where do you get your song writing ideas from and who musically is an influence on you?

In the early years I listened to bands like the Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Motown songs, and later I really liked bands like Foreigner.   I try to come up with new and different melodic ideas.  I love to change keys for the chorus.  Writing songs is like a puzzle.  It’s not always easy, but if I keep working on it, something good comes out.

4. Are there any plans for live dates in Germany and how easy/hard is it to get a decent run of tour dates?

At the moment I’m discussing some possible live shows in Europe with a few different promoters and venues.  I don’t have anything definite yet.

5. Which song(s) are you most proud of & why?

I really like all of the songs.  It’s hard to pick one.  I like the title song “Dream the Dream” and “I’m Still Here” is also a cool song.   The opening track “Never Hold Back” is a strong track too.

6.    What were the highlights in your long career? Looking back if you could change anything what would it be and why?

I’m best known for my song “The Touch” featured in “Transformers: The Movie”.  It was released on Guitar Hero in 2009.  “The Touch” was also featured in the movie “Boogie Nights,” on Chuck (NBC), and on American Dad (Fox).  Another track from the “In This Life” album, “Til All Are One (Transformers Theme)” is featured in the new Activision game, “Transformers: The War For Cybertron” released in June, 2010.

In 1997 I won an Emmy Award for Best Original Song, "Til I Was Loved By You". Another of my songs "Capture the Dream" was featured in the 1996 Olympics. I had songs in two Jean-Claude Van Damme films: "Kickboxer," and "Bloodsport," and have written with many top songwriters like Jonathan Cain (Journey), Jim Vallance (Bryan Adams; Aerosmith), and Paul Stanley of Kiss, and have toured in the U.S. and Europe.

7.  What piece of advice would you pass on to budding musicians wanting to start out today in the music business?

It’s a tough business.  The record business has changed so much with the Internet and all. I don’t recommend it as a stable career choice, but it’s still possible to get music out there if it’s good.
8.    What do you do in your spare time outside of music?

I read a lot.  I love to go hiking and to the gym.  I attend conventions in the U.S. for the Transformers, since my music has been featured in the movie, games, etc…

9. What really gets on your nerves and really annoys you at the moment?

Nothing bothers me much really.  I don’t focus on negative stuff too much, especially when it’s not something I can’t control.  It’s better to think about positive things.

10. Message to your fans...

I really appreciate the support!  It means so much to be able to make music, and have people like what I do.  For more info, please visit stanbush.com

Thank you Stan and I hope we will see us at tour in the future. I wish you good luck with your new album “Dream the Dream”.

Thank You!  I really appreciate you taking the time to interview me!
